McKENZIE (January 6) — Winter Storm Blair continued its trek east Monday, wreaking havoc from the central plains to the east coast. After a stormy Sunday, residents of northwest Tennessee awoke to much colder temperatures and a dusting of flurries that lingered into the afternoon, but the heavy impacts stayed just to the north.

A sigh of relief (or frustration) as schools prepare to resume this week looks to be temporary as another system is expected to deliver Friday what Blair didn’t.

Freezing temperatures are forecasted to persist with highs in the mid-30s and lows in the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday’s low is slightly higher in the mid-20s, but Friday’s forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of snow with expected accumulation of one to three inches.

Temperatures stay low on Saturday, but the chance of continued precipitation is low, and Sunday’s high is predicted to reach 40 degrees.

Moving into next week, highs remain in the upper 30s with lows in the low 20s with very low chances of precipitation.
