HUNTINGDON (January 18) — The contract of Dr. Jonathan Kee, director of schools, was extended by unanimous vote by the Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education on January 18. Dr. Kee’s contract now extends to June 30, 2025, after the one-year extension.

The Inglenook Book Club met Wednesday, January 11, at the Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie with 20 members present. Hostesses were Peggy Chappell and Suzanne Howell who served delicious cherry cobbler with ice cream, mixed nuts medley and assorted beverages.

McKENZIE (January 3) — The process begins to interview and hire a new director of schools for the McKenzie Special School District. Lynn Watkins, 59, director of schools at McKenzie, is retiring June 30, 2022 after 14 years of service as director of schools.

McKENZIE — Construction for a new multi-purpose sports and physical education facility began December 1 at McKenzie High School. Immediately as the MHS football team departed the school en route to Chattanooga for the championship game, earth-moving equipment excavated the football practice field and started construction of a new multi-purpose building.
