HUNTINGDON (November 28) — In a short meeting of the Huntingdon Mayor and Town Council, the board voted to declare city-owned used pickup trucks as surplus property and also adjust a customer’s water bill. more
Public Intoxication — Timothy Ray Mayo, 51, was arrested on December 5 for Public Intoxication and Possession of a Handgun while Under the Influence. Reporting officer Justen Roberts reported that he spoke to an employee at Hucks in Huntingdon who informed him a customer has been the restroom for over an hour. When he entered the restroom, the defendant had noticeable sores and his pupils appeared to be dilated. This led the officer to believe that Mayo was under the influence of methamphetamine. Mayo was also carrying a firearm on his waist, which the officer removed for the safety of them both. He was then placed under arrest for public intoxication and possession of firearm while intoxicated. more

Average gasoline prices in Tennessee fell 6.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.65/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 15.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 31.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 5.6 cents in the last week and stands at $3.90 per gallon. more
McKenzie (March 21) — McKenzie brought home their first win against Gleason. Lane Anderson pitched and only let two people on base with zero runs earned. There were four runs in the first inning. The Rebels got one in the fourth inning. McKenzie ended the game in the fifth inning with five more runs. Tate Surber hit a double that sent Jake Cassidy and Hayden Garrett ending the game 10-0. more
McKENZIE (AUGUST 28) — The memorial service of Sergeant Harold Lee Russell, II, a McKenzie native and a sergeant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was Sunday, August 28 at 2 p.m. The 2005 graduate of McKenzie High School died Tuesday, August 23 in a helicopter accident. more
