MILAN, Tenn. (March 12) After going with younger guys in the last three coaching selections, Milan has decided to go with a veteran this time around for its new head football coach.
The Milan administration named McKenzie’s Wade Comer as the new coach on Tuesday.
“I am excited to announce Wade Comer as the new Milan High School head football coach,” Milan superintendent Jonathan Criswell said. “Coach Comer has the championship coaching experience we were looking for and a legacy of developing young men into great leaders. I’m excited for our team to begin the process with Coach Comer toward another fall of victorious Bulldog football.”

TENNESSEE — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 6.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.06/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 22.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 8.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 1.3 cents in the last week and stands at $4.02 per gallon.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman David Kustoff (R-TN) secured $5,000,000 for the Tennessee Department of Transportation to add more lanes to Highway 641 from Howard Road, in Henry County, to the Kentucky state line. Specifically, it will widen US-641 to four-lanes from Paris, Tennessee into Kentucky.

$144 Million, that’s how much money could/will leave Tennessee public schools and flow into the pockets of private (for-profit) schools within the first year of the school voucher program, the money will “follow the student.” According to Governor Bill Lee’s proposal, the state will pay up to $7,000 annually per student that has the means and desire to attend a private school instead of the public school in their area.

ATWOOD (March 7) — West Carroll Special School District launched a new phone app and upgraded its website to better serve the stakeholder of the school system.
Michelle Robinson, who headed the project, displayed the newly available phone app, that will provide a central point of communications for teachers, students and parents. Robinson said the app and upgraded website will consolidate communications for the school system.
