All four were current and former members of the South Pittsburg High School football team, which competed against the McKenzie High School Rebels in the Class 1A State Championship in December 2021. more

Thefts at City Parks — A city maintenance building at McKenzie Park was broken into and the keys to a city truck were taken. No other items were taken on the report filed May 27 by Officer Kyle Beauchamp. On May 28, Officer Beauchamp returned to the park where the concession at the baseball field was broken into. A computer monitor, DVR hard drive and Samsung remote had been stolen from the upstairs press box. The DVR was part of the park’s surveillance system. more

People ask me from time to time why I don’t add pictures to my stories. I think there is a twofold answer here. First of all, we didn’t have any money. Those Kodak Brownie cameras were expensive. And it you wanted a Polaroid Land model J66 with the Electric Eye it would cost you even more. We didn’t have anything to take a picture with! more
MARTIN — Jimmy Tosh is known as a successful businessman and family farmer through his association with Tosh Family Farms in Henry, Tennessee. He’s also known for his generosity and his support for his alma mater, the University of Tennessee at Martin. Tosh was honored May 5 when the Tosh Family Classroom was officially named during an early afternoon program in UT Martin’s Brehm Hall.
