TENNESSEE (January 29) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee rose 8.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.76/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 2.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 49.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 0.5 cents in the last week and stands at $3.87 per gallon. more

PARIS — During a recent meeting of the Henry County Hospital Board, the NW Tennessee Cares organization asked the Henry County Medical Center to appoint a task force to restore the hospital’s obstetrics department. Hospital officials said their ongoing exploration into the possible management of the hospital by an outside healthcare system would include a stipulation that an obstetrics department be restored. more
On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Gleason’s game at Dresden, Drake Lehmkuhl surpassed the 1,000-point Club for his career at Gleason High School. Drake was able to accomplish this feat in just 60 games. more
Sadarius Hutcherson, a Huntingdon graduate and native, continues to keep his football career alive. From the University of South Carolina to blocking for Tom Brady in the NFL, Hutcherson has landed in Washington, D.C. with the Defenders in the UFL. more
McKENZIE (January 23) — McKenzie High School senior Mikaela Reynolds chose to continue her education at Bethel University and is the newest signee for the Lady Wildcats Basketball Team. During a signing event at MHS on Tuesday, a school snow day, family, friends and Lady Rebels teammates join in the celebration. more

Members of the McKenzie High School Homecoming Royalty were selected by nominations from each homeroom. The M-Club then selected the five beautiful young ladies being presented Friday. The basketball teams and cheerleaders chose the queen from these five young ladies. more
GLEASON (January 26) — Fifty-five years ago, Gleason was dominating the basketball courts in west Tennessee. Last Friday night, they were back on the Gleason basketball court to be honored for their highly successful seasons. more
NASHVILLE (January 2024) — Unemployment rates in the tri-counties of Carroll, Henry and Weakley counties decreased from November to December 2023. The latest labor force estimate from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development indicates the tri-counties’ overall employment has improved. more

HUNTINGDON (January 23) — Members of the Huntingdon Town Council approved the final step for funds to purchase approximately 2,000 digital water meters and replace the water service line along East Main Street. more
HUNTINGDON (January 25) — On Thursday, Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson requested the County’s Budget Committee transfer $10,000 worth of funds to provide salary supplements to new hires. The requested funds come courtesy to Carroll County through Tennessee’s Recruitment and Retention Grant. more
McKENZIE (January 22) — McKenzie Police Department received a 911 call from Eddie Edwards stating he had fallen and could not get back in bed. He requested a ‘lift assist’ from police. more
HUNTINGDON (January 25) — Carroll County Electric Board of Directors voted to proceed with designing and constructing a new substation in the Leach Community along Highway 70. The growth around Lake Halford and Indian Lake in the Cedar Grove area necessitates the new substation to divert the load from other substations. more
NASHVILLE (January 24) — On Wednesday, January 24, the Tennessee Historical Commission’s State Review Board met to decide on furthering Webb School’s nomination on to the National Register of Historic Places. The board unanimously approved moving the nomination forward to the National Park Service for final approval to the National Register. If placed on the registry, Webb School would then be eligible for National Park Service-administered federal preservation tax credits and grant programs. more
