Schedule VI Drug Violations — Shannon Office, 35, of Jackson, was arrested on April 27 for unlawful drug paraphernalia use and lights required on motor vehicles. Officer Roberts observed Shannon’s car driving on Main Street when he noticed the driver’s side headlight was out and initiated the traffic stop. Officer Roberts could smell marijuana when he contacted the driver. Roberts asked the driver and passengers to step out of the vehicle and he found several unidentified pills, small amounts of marijuana, and a scale inside of a purse in the backseat. Then inside of the trunk of the vehicle was 66 grams of marijuana. The driver said it was not hers but took responsibility for everything in the car.

Rotary Hears About Bethel’s Global Studies

McKENZIE (May 14) — Members of the Rotary Club of McKenzie heard from Bethel University’s Global Studies program. Stacie Freeman, leader of Bethel University Global Studies, was the featured speaker. She thanked the club members for donating supplies for a service/learning trip to Guatemala, where Bethel students and community members, worked in elementary schools in Guatemala City. Travelers also visited Lake Atitlan, Antiqua, and San Juan.
