DeMaris Begins New Chapter at Discovery Park
From the Sep 9, 2025 e-Edition
UNION CITY (September 4) — After more than 20 years at The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in Huntingdon, Angela DeMaris has turned a new page and began working as Discovery Park of America’s Education Events and Content Manager.
DeMaris, of McKenzie, has a long history in arts administration, public programming and event production. She is a board member for West TN PBS and the Carroll County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. She formerly had a role with the Town of Huntingdon. At The Dixie, she held leadership roles in event coordination and academic enrichment. She has managed cross-department timelines, volunteer coordination and run-of-show logistics for community events of varied scale.
“Our mission is to inspire curiosity through experience. Angela’s role is to translate that into well-executed events for members and visitors throughout the year,” said Michael Larkin, education director at Discovery Park of America.
In this role, DeMaris will plan and produce Discovery Park’s flagship educational events, from large festivals and themed weekends to special programs that highlight the park’s collections, with a focus on clear, repeat-worthy experiences that bring visitors back. She will coordinate cross-department timelines and volunteers, finalize scripts, signage and web listings, manage set, show and strike and use attendance and post-event feedback to refine formats and strengthen signature events.
“I’m looking forward to building programs that are clear, accessible and enjoyable for guests of all ages,” DeMaris said. “Discovery Park offers a unique setting for learning through experience, and my priority is to produce events that run smoothly and feel worth the trip.”
Discovery Park of America is a premier world-class museum and heritage park. With a mission to inspire children and adults to “see beyond,” the 100,000-square-foot museum has nine interactive exhibit galleries, additional space for temporary exhibits from around the world and a 50-acre heritage park.
