From the Sep 9, 2025 e-Edition
HUNTINGDON (September 3) — Governor Bill Lee visited Lake Halford on Wednesday, September 3 as part of his 95-county tour of the state. This was the Governor’s first visit to the lake, previously known as Carroll County 1000-Acre Lake. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency owns and manages the lake.
While at the lake, the Governor greeted local politicians and then assisted TWRA in placing some underwater fish attractors.
He boarded a second boat and the crew conducted sampling of fish using an small electric charge that temporarily stuns the fish, bringing them to the surface.
The Governor said he was pleased to see the lake and how TWRA has made improvements. It is unique to the TWRA system since it offers fishing, plus leisure boating and swimming.
