Huntingdon Council Honors High School Athletes
Gray Eubanks Awarded Pinnacle of Excellence

HUNTINGDON (July 22) — During Tuesday's regular meeting, the Huntingdon Town Council and Mayor Chad Edwards honored local high school athletes for their achievements in spring sports, including awarding the town's Pinnacle of Excellence to Mr. Baseball winner Gray Eubanks.
Mayor Edwards welcomed the capacity crowd to the meeting room. "It's a pleasure to see so many of you here to celebrate the achievements and dedication of our athletes. Each individual has constantly gone above and beyond, demonstrating exceptional performance and commitment and passion."
He presented a certificate to each athlete, beginning with Gage Foster, who led the Mustang soccer team to a region championship and sectional appearance. Foster was named an All-West Tennessee Soccer goalkeeper.
Honored next were track and field Head Coach Bryan Dickens and state competitors Shawn Simpson, Cole Chafin, Carson Watters and Blaine Todd. The four finished third in the 4x800-meter relay. In the 3200-meter run, Todd finished second and Simpson finished sixth.
The Mustang baseball team was honored for their TSSAA State Championship Runner-Up finish. Presented certificates were Head Coach Alan Eubanks, assistant coaches Brandon McCormick, Kade Pearson and Daniel Eubanks, and team members Owen Kreuziger, Silas Sharp, Easton Byars, Aiden Hilliard, Owen Hugueley, Colt Luther, Broox Bennett, Wesley Williams, Brady Warbritton, Wyatt Bradley, Braylon Rich, Maddox Holmes, Cody Wilson, Kainan Moore, Colt Wood, Gabriel Smothers, Austin Mays, Hayes Eubanks, Cy Hankins, Caleb Ezell, Derek Hodge, Hayden Strop, Cooper Waddell, Cayden Brewer, Evan Blakeman, Linsman White, Braylin Dearmon and Gray Eubanks.
Coach Eubanks thanked the mayor and council, adding, "I want to thank the town too… When we played for the state championship that day, it was a real moment… It's like the whole town was there."
Edwards then presented the Pinnacle of Excellence to Gray Eubanks. The Class AA Mr. Baseball winner was unable to attend in person, but was present via video call as the mayor recited the inscription on the plaque: "On behalf of the Huntingdon Town Council and the Town of Huntingdon, it is our honor to present the 2025 Pinnacle of Excellence award, an accolade recognizing individuals who have reached the highest levels of achievement and embody the spirit of the town of Huntingdon's values: dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship and hard work. This individual's journey has been marked by achievement and success not only in baseball but football. He has proven to be a leader both on and off the field. His unwavering commitment and determination have had a significant impact on the Huntingdon mustangs."
Gray's parents, Coach Alan Eubanks and Councilperson Kelly Eubanks, accepted the award on his behalf.
