Living at Lakeside News
From the Sep 30, 2025 e-Edition
Greetings, September started off with a holiday to celebrate and we had a full day. We began with Devotion by Rev. Pearson, followed by exercise class then upstairs for lively piano tunes by Bo Solomon, A Grill Out for lunch, Rook Games, Penny Pitchers for snacks and a Movie and popcorn in the evening. We had some fun outings this month as well: We went to Huntingdon for the First Tuesday Sr. Dance at the Civic Center. We had breakfast and coffee at The Book Stack, this is a nice place to sit, visit, eat and get a book. We also went to the final Nights on Broadway performance. It was a pleasant evening with the band Flashback. We also took an Autumn drive to the 1000 Acre Lake and had a snack at the pavilion. The leaves are just beginning to change, and it was a beautiful drive.
We had some special visitors this month as well: Calvin, a 5-month standard poodle who is in training to be a Therapy Dog came and visited. He gave us lots of love and let us love him. When he is fully trained and certified he will work in trauma situations, bringing comfort in difficult times.
Miss Tennessee Volunteer, Megan Poore, came by for a Meet & Greet with our residents. She shared her pageant journey, platform and initiative work with the Governor’s office to visit schools in Tennessee as a role model. She also partners with St. Jude and the Salvation Army.
On National Fall Prevention Day, we were visited by therapists from Baptist Home Health. OT Hillary Parish and PT Alisha McMasters who went over the factors that put you at risk of having a fall and suggestions for decreasing your chances but also what to do if you have a fall and need help along with some tips and tricks for improving mobility. We appreciate their care and concern for our residents.
The residents and staff are so proud of Lakeside, and we often hear people compliment how beautiful our building is and how clean it is. This is the result of our hard-working Housekeeping Team. We were thrilled to recognize these ladies on National Housecleaners Day with words of praise and thanks along with a gift. Our Housekeeping team consists of the following ladies: Sydney Allen, Mary Beckham, Tina Clark, Kechia Dudley, Alyssa Fields, Linda Lee, and Marsha Walker We offer many opportunities for pampering here at Lakeside such as Salon Services, Manicures/Pedicures, and Massage Therapy and this month we added a Facial Social. We Cleansed, Masked, Tightened and Glowed with an 8-step program. We had such a fun time laughing at ourselves following the eye patches and full-face mask, we will definitely be doing this again.
We celebrated 3 resident birthdays this month. On the 10th Cornelia Pugh’s family treated us all to a Birthday Cake. Ella Page donated the Monthly Cupcakes with a fall pumpkin theme for all September Birthdays. Other residents celebrating were Lee Sharp and Earl Ray Kee. On the 5th Activity Director Sheila Willis Celebrated her birthday with Lemon Pound Cake, Cheesecake Dip and Fresh Berries along with a Conversation Starter game where a mystery question was drawn out of a gift bag and both resident and AD had to give their answers so that we all could get to know each other a little bit more. This is nice to do occasionally as we continue to grow our Lakeside family.
Invitation: We want to take this opportunity to welcome all the Trick or Treaters out on October 31st from 5:45-8:00 for A Wizard of Oz experience. Kiddos will walk the yellow brick road encountering the Wicked Witch of the East and West along with Glenda the Good Witch, They will enter the Emerald City where a host of Dorothys will greet them with goodies and as they leave with their baskets filled they can stop by our Photo Back Drop and get a Picture with the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion. “There is no place like home” but we hope to see you at ours on Halloween. Until next time...
