10 Years Ago — McKenzie held a hearing concerning the burned-out building in downtown McKenzie. Christien Radford previously owned the store, but online records indicated Jose Becerra and Hugo Becerra purchased the burned structure for $2,600 on April 14, 2014.

50 Years Ago — Mrs. Martha Winston, wife of Nat Winston, a Republican candidate for governor, made three stops in Carroll County.
*Congressman Ed Jones announced the appointment of Randy Camp, a senior at the University of Martin, as Youth Director for his re-election campaign.
75 Years Ago — Bethel College employed Mr. Casey Jones Vinson as head football coach.
*Sue’s Beauty Shop put an ad in the newspaper that encouraged women to cut their hair short and cool for the summer.
