10 Years Ago — McKenzie held a hearing concerning the burned-out building in downtown McKenzie. Christien Radford previously owned the store, but online records indicated Jose Becerra and Hugo Becerra purchased the burned structure for $2,600 on April 14, 2014.

*Tennessee Historical Commission members Dan Brown, Certified Local Government Coordinator, and Patrick McIntyre, Executive Director, and State Historic Preservation Officer, posed with a U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant uniform during the Tennessee Historical Commission’s visit.

75 Years Ago — Bethel College employed Mr. Casey Jones Vinson as head football coach.

*Sue’s Beauty Shop put an ad in the newspaper that encouraged women to cut their hair short and cool for the summer.
