Rebels Fall to Mustangs

HUNTINGDON (September 11) — The McKenzie Middle School Rebels traveled to Huntington Thursday to take on the Mustangs. Huntingdon pulled away in the second quarter for a 32-8 win.
The Mustangs won the toss and elected to receive the ball to start the first half.
Huntingdon began the first drive with a 39-yard touchdown by Noah Webb. The two-point conversion was no good, making it Mustangs 6, McKenzie 0.
Drelyn Carter kicked it off to the Rebels to start their first drive. Rebel quarterback Seth Stafford started the series off with a one-yard gain, then a pass to Dierks Ghyers. The Rebels punted on fourth-and-5 to start the Mustangs' second drive.
Mustang Noah Webb ran to the outside down the sideline for a 78-yard touchdown. The two-point try was again no good, making it Mustangs 12, McKenzie 0.
The Mustangs kicked it off to the Rebels to begin their second drive. Stafford kept the ball twice for a gain of one then a gain of two. A host of Mustangs sacked Safford for a loss of five yards. The Rebels punted to the Mustangs for their third drive.
Davey Strayhorn ran the ball, but was stopped at the line of scrimmage for a second down and ten. Noah Webb ran for a gain of four yards to end the first quarter. Mustang Noah Goble ran the ball, but was tackled by Rebel Parker Standridge for a loss of five yards to make it fourth-and-11. The Rebel defense held the Mustangs off for a turnover on downs to start McKenzie's third drive.
Rebel Seth Stafford's pass was complete to Jake Ghyers for a gain of eight yards. Stafford then found Lane Brown for a 48-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion run by Stafford was good, making it Rebels 8, Mustangs 12.
Huntingdon ended their fourth drive with a 39-yard touchdown by Strayhorn. Noah Webb found Strayhorn for the two-point conversion to make it Mustangs 20, Rebels 8.
The Rebels got the ball back, but were forced to punt to the Mustangs for their fifth drive.
Mustang Noah Webb ran to the outside for a 36-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good, making it Mustangs 26, Rebels 8.
A McKenzie fumble was recovered by the Mustangs. The Rebels held them to a punt, but had two incomplete passes to end the first half.
The Rebels received the ball to start the third quarter. Stafford kept, but fumbled the ball to Cohen Gray to start the Mustangs first drive of the second half.
Noah Webb ran for a gain of four, and, on the next play, ran to the outside down the sideline for a 50-plus yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good, making it Mustangs 32, Rebels 8.
McKenzie marched down the field, but the Mustangs held them to get the ball back.
The Rebels held the Mustangs off to punt the ball for McKenzie's last drive of the game.
