HUNTINGDON (October 10) — The Huntingdon Mustangs scored on all of their seven first-half possessions and coasted to a 59-6 win on homecoming night as the Mustangs improved to 7-1 for the season. Senior running back Tyreke led the way as he scored four touchdowns, all in the first half, on five carries. Hutch scored on runs of 50, 37, 51, and 17 yards, rushing for 169 yards on the night. He also had a pass reception in the game.

As a team, the Mustangs ran for 353 yards in the game and passed for 12 yards. Kenton Smith completed 2 of 2 passes. Smith had a touchdown run in the game, and one of his two completions went for a TD.

Defensively, the Mustangs were led by Taylin Strayhorn, who recorded seven tackles, four tackles for a loss, and had four sacks in the game. Huntingdon held Harpeth to 15 rushing yards and 93 yards through the air on 6 of 14 passing.

The Mustangs scored five times in the first quarter to race to a 35-6 lead after one stanza. Hutch started the scoring with his 50-yard run and coupled that with a 37-yard run, as Huntingdon took a 14-0 lead after running only two offensive plays.

Harpeth scored its only points after the second Hutch TD run on a tipped pass that fell in the hands of an Indian receiver who raced 22 yards for the score. The Mustangs blocked the extra point to keep the score at 14-6.

Kenton Smith answered the Harpeth score with a 53-yard run for a touchdown, and Broox Bennett recovered a fumble on Harpeth’s next possession at the Harpeth 16. Smith found Zayden Connelly alone in the end zone for a score as Huntingdon led 28-6.

Hutch closed the scoring in the first quarter with a 51-yard sprint for the touchdown and a 35-6 lead. The Mustangs scored again early in the second quarter by the non-touchdown route as Greyson Anderson, who was 5 of 5 on extra points in the first half, came on and kicked a 28-yard field goal to up the lead to 38-6.

A few minutes later, Hutch scored his fourth TD of the night to end the first half scoring as he ran 17 yards for the score. Ethan Raffield tacked on the point after and a 45-6 halftime lead.

The Mustang reserves got in the act in the second half and posted two scores. Kylen Turner scored both JV touchdowns on runs of 22 yards and 15 yards. Raffield made a PAT to make the final 59-6.

Huntingdon returns to action on October 24, playing host to Peabody. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
