McKENZIE (June 18) — The McKenzie Rebels hosted Camden and Obion County in a 7-on-7 scrimmage. McKenzie has had to transition through numerous changes since last season. One of which is their new head football Coach, Keith Hodge.

Hodge said the staff and players are adjusting well. A big plus has been the attendance from the players. He added they are there every day working hard and that makes a big difference when transitioning. The Rebels had a few new players go out for the team this year, and Hodge says he thought they competed well against the other teams.

McKenzie’s defense improved further into the 7-on-7 scrimmage and the Rebels did not give up a single touchdown. The Rebels offense looked good, they threw the ball well, but Coach Hodge wants to clean up a few of the drops before season. He is excited about the new season and says he loves working with coaches and players who know what it takes to be successful. The boys know there are several positions up for grabs and have the right mindset to take advantage of every opportunity they are given.

Coach Hodge is looking for guys who are going to be good teammates and give maximum effort. Before the season he wants his team to be a close unit and be healthy as possible and everything else will fall into place.
