Unemployment Rate Increases in July

NASHVILLE — Unemployment rates in the tri-counties increased during the month of July as compared to the prior month.

According to the Department Labor and Workforce Development, Tennessee unemployment rate increased from June’s rate of 3.4 percent to July’s rate of 3.6 percent.

Carroll County reported an unemployment rate of 5.8 percent in July as compared to 5.0 in June and 4.8 in July 2024. From a labor force of 12,181, there were 11,478 employed and 703 unemployed. In June, the number of unemployed was reported as 615.

Henry County reported an unemployment rate of 5.0 percent as compared to 4.7 one month earlier and 4.4 one year earlier. From a labor force of 13,295, there were 12,628 employed and 667 unemployed. In the month of June, there were 616 unemployed.

Weakley County reported an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent compared to 5.0 one month earlier and 7.5 percent one year earlier.

From a labor force of 14,268, there were 13,059 employed and 1,209 unemployed. In June, there were 690 unemployed.

In Tennessee, unemployment increased in all 95 counties.
