CARROLL COUNTY (May 5) — The polls in Carroll County were quiet as only 1,288 voters cast ballots in the May 5 party primary elections for local county offices. That compares to 2,396 just four years ago. The lone contested race was that for the Republican nominee for sheriff with Eric W. Sawyers claiming the victory over Timothy W. Pratt, 662 to 341 for the Republican nomination.

Chad Christopher Barnhart’s name will not appear on the May 5, 2026, Republican primary election ballot because the Carroll County Election Commission cannot place him on it without a court order restoring his citizenship rights.
