Gleason Gazelles Host 50th Annual Tater Town Special

GLEASON — Gleason Gazelles are hosting the 50th annual Tater Town Special on August 27 to September 3.

This has been a long-standing tradition of fun and activities for the family.

Events begin Sunday, August 27 with a performance by Bethel University’s Renaissance, 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church. A love offering will be collected.

Monday, August 28 is the Block Party - 50s Theme beginning at 6 p.m. in downtown. Events include a Costume Contest, Bounce Slide, Food Trucks, Music, Children’s Chalk Art Contest, Games, and Super Family Fun.

Tuesday, August 29 is the Tater Town Cruise-In Car Show *In Memory of Spencer Collins” at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the Gleason School. Power Wheel Fun Race begins at 6:30 p.m. in downtown.

Wednesday, August 30 is Youth Bingo and Devotional, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Gazelle Grounds for Ages 4-17, Must be present at 7 p.m. to play. The devotional speaker is Chris Leo.

Thursday is Bingo and Cake Auction, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Gazelle Grounds for ages 18 and up. The Cake Auction is during intermission.

Friday, September 1 is the Community BBQ and Youth Sweet Potato Cook-Off. Youth (Pre-K through 12th grade) entries must be in Cook Booth by 5 p.m. for judging. BBQ Cook-off gate opens at 5 p.m. at the Gazelle Grounds: Price is $10 Per Plate. Live music will be provided.

Saturday begins with the J.C. Carey Memorial 5K Run. Register at 6:30 a.m. in front of the school with race beginning at 7 a.m. Entry is $10 for students and $20 for adults.

The Junior Parade is 9 a.m. with registration at Gleason Lumber

The Grand Parade is 10 a.m. with registration at the former American Legion at 9 a.m.

Sunday, September 3 is the Community Worship Service at 11 a.m. at Gleason First Baptist Church.

Gleason School Alumni Association holds its annual class reunion at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
