MARTIN (October 10) - The Huntingdon High School Fillies traveled Thursday to face Westview in the District 12A Soccer Championship. The host Lady Chargers were in control throughout and scored often for a 9-0 win to claim the title. Both teams advance to the Region 6A Tournament.

PARSONS (October 4) — The Huntingdon Mustangs were able to bounce back after last week’s region loss to Milan. On Friday’s matchup, the Mustangs rallied from behind in the second half to defeat reigning state champions the Riverside Panthers, 35-21.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Sports Writers Association announced football rankings after Week 6 on Monday, with the poll presented by CoachT.com. Top 10 teams in each of the six Division I classifications and Top 5 in three Division II classes were selected by TSWA members with first-place votes in parentheses and total points based on 10 points for a first-place vote through one point for a 10th-place vote.

HUNTINGDON (September 26) — With pending storms compliments of Hurricane Helene, the 93rd meeting between the Huntingdon Mustangs and the Milan Bulldogs, was moved up to Thursday night. Despite the date change, the first half of action was mostly played in the rain. Milan, under the helm of former Rebel Head Coach Wade Comer, was able to move the ball with ease against Huntingdon taking the Region 6-2A win, 28-7.

HUNTINGDON (September 24) - Huntingdon High School hosted Westview Tuesday for a consequential district soccer match. Each 2-0 in District 12A, the winner would claim the top seed in the upcoming tournament.
The Fillies struck first at the very end of the first half, but the Lady Chargers scored three times in the second half to claim the 3-1 victory and the 3-0 district record.

ALAMO (September 20) — The Huntingdon Mustangs made the trek to Alamo, Tennessee on Friday night as they battled the 4A Crockett County Cavaliers. Despite hot and muggy conditions, the Mustangs came away with the week five win, 28-21.

McKENZIE (September 17) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for the final home football game of the season. The game was rescheduled from the previous week due to weather. The Rebels scored two early touchdowns and held the Mustangs to one score for a 16-6 victory.

HUNTINGDON (September 13) — On Friday night, the Huntingdon Mustangs picked up their second win of the season as they played host to the Columbia Academy Bulldogs. It was a game of pending rain showers with the perpetual lightning of yellow flags. The first quarter was a tight back-and-forth but like a diesel engine, the Mustang offense and defense heated up to roar away with the 42-20 win.

ADAMSVILLE (September 6) — After two weeks of preparation, the Huntingdon Mustangs were on the road opening up Region 6-2A football against the Adamsville Cardinals. The Mustangs easily handled the Cardinals taking home the 43-12 win.

HUNTINGDON (August 29) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted McKenzie softball Thursday. The Fillies played well on both sides of the ball, including a shutout by pitcher Marcie Mitchell, for a 9-0 victory.

HUNTINGDON (August 23) - Sometimes, you can believe the hype.
A breathtakingly massive audience gathered at Paul Ward Stadium Friday to see the highly-anticipated season opener between the Mustangs and the visiting McKenzie Rebels, and the teams put on a show worthy of the storied rivalry.
Huntingdon seemed to be in control with two early touchdowns, but McKenzie tied the game at 14-14 before halftime. After trading TDs in the third quarter, the Rebels took their first lead, 24-21, with a field goal to start a wild fourth quarter. Four more touchdowns meant four lead changes, and the Rebels took a final lead with just 22 seconds on the clock for a 38-35 victory.
