HUNTINGDON (March 4) – Results of the 2020 presidential primary poured in as polls closed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Carroll County Election Commission.
Carroll County Election Administrator Peg Hamlett said the election commission was experiencing technical difficulties with a scanner while counting absentee votes. She said vote totals will be available at the end of the night after each vote is counted manually.
At approximately 9 p.m., with absentee votes still outstanding, officials planned to go home and return on Wednesday to finish counting. However, after talking with state election officials, the Carroll County Election Commission opted to stay and count the absentee votes by hand. Hamlett said totals will be posted on the election commission's website.
