Dresden Opens New Municipal Complex
From the May 27, 2025 e-Edition
DRESDEN (May 18) — The City of Dresden celebrated the completion of a project more than three years in the making with a ribbon-cutting Sunday at the new Municipal Complex.
On December 10, 2021, an EF-3 tornado devastated the community, including in its path of destruction the building that previously housed city hall and the police and fire departments.
Months of cleanup was followed by months of construction to bring the project to fruition.
“The Iris has bloomed again,” said Mayor Mark Maddox during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The official dedication of the complex reads, in part, “This complex is dedicated to the first responders, City of Dresden staff and citizens who put aside their own needs to help neighbors and friends on December 10, 2021 when a devastating tornado left a path of destruction through Dresden. Your courage, fortitude and resilience in the face of tragedy demonstrates the heart of Dresden.”
