Fillies Flatten Lady Bulldogs

HUNTINGDON — The Huntingdon Fillies flattened the Milan Lady Bulldogs 84-34. The Fillies dominated in the first quarter scoring 37 points off the bat.

The Fillies chalked up 37 points to start the game. Sophie Singleton and Lilly Kee had ten points in the first quarter. Sara Beth Smith drove to the basket for six points, then made a free throw for her seventh point. Josey Stokes drained a 3-point shot, then made two points from the line. Quinn Kelley made a 3-point shot. Annabelle Singleton drove to the basket for two points.

The Fillies held the Lady Bulldogs to 12 points in the first quarter. Kaidence Morton drove to the basket for two points, then made three foul shots. Melissa Currie had a shot in the paint for two points, then drained two shots at the free throws. Ashley Williamson drove to the basket for two points. Raela Curry tacked on one point from the free-throw line. The Fillies led Milan 37-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Fillies added 17 points to their lead in the second quarter. Kee chalked up six points in the paint. Stokes drove to the basket twice. Lia Fuller drove to the hoop for two points. Annabelle Singleton made a 3-point shot. Delaney Byars tacked on two free throws. The Fillies dominated by over 30 points.

The Milan Lady Bulldogs added seven points to their side of the board during the second quarter. Williamson drained a 3-point shot. Akayah Hyde and Curry drove to the basket for two points. Morton tacked on a point from the line. The Lady Bulldogs trailed 54-20 at halftime.

The Fillies picked up their pace in the third quarter. Smith scored six points in the paint. Sydney Anderson, Fuller and Kee all drove to the basket for two points. Kelley drained a 3-point shot, then drove to the basket for two more points. Sophie Singleton and Stokes each made a shot behind the arc. Byars tacked on two free throws. The Filles led by almost fifty points at the end of the third quarter.

Morton was the only Lady Bulldog to score during the third quarter. Morton drained two 3-point shots, two free throws and drove to the basket for two points. The Lady Bulldogs trailed the Fillies 79-30.

The Fillies finished off the game with a five-point quarter. Byars drove to the basket and drew a three-point play. Juli Harris drove to the basket for two points.

The Lady Bulldogs were held to just four points in the final quarter. Williamson drove to the basket for two points. Shylah Phinnessee had two points in the paint.

The Fillies dominated over the Lady Bulldogs 84-34.

The Huntingdon Fillies travel to Union City on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

Bulldogs Beat Mustangs in District Tilt
The Milan Bulldogs defeated the Huntingdon Mustangs 62-41. The Bulldogs started the game off strong with a 21-6 lead.

The Huntingdon Mustangs were held to just six points to start the game. Tycen Willis and Caleb Ezell drew fouls and knocked down both of their free throws. Willis then had a shot under the basket for two points.

The Milan Bulldogs chalked up 21 points in the first quarter. Adam Arnold and Gabe Scott both had six points from the arc. Andy Westbrooks drained a 3-pointer as well and tacked on two points in the paint. Carmelo Jones and Carter Milligan drove to the basket for two points. The Bulldogs dominated 21-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Huntingdon Mustangs got into double digits during the second quarter. Ethan Ramsey drove to the basket and drew a foul for a 3-point play. Ramsey drove to the basket again for two, then made two free throws. Ty Kelley drained a 3-point shot. Kaleb Pearson drove to the basket for two points.

The Bulldogs added to their lead. Tyrone Brown chalked up six points. Westbrooks added seven points to the board. Jones and Milligan tacked on two points each. The Bulldogs led 38-18 at halftime.

The Mustangs were trailing by 20 to start the second quarter, but they didn’t give up, and added another 12 points to the board during the third quarter. Kelley drove to the basket for two points, then drained a 3-point shot. Ramsey and Willis had shots in the paint for two points. EJ Lewis drove to the hoop for two. Landon Gordon tacked on one point from the line.

The Bulldogs slowed their pace during the third quarter only scoring ten points. Arnold and Jones chalked up six points each. D’yonte Lumpkin drove to the basket for two points. Milan led Huntingdon 48-30 going into the final quarter.

The Mustangs added 11 points to their side of the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Kelley had five points. Ramsey and Willis had a shot in the paint and then a single free throw each.

The Bulldogs had 14 points in the paint to seal off their victory. Brown had six points in the paint. Arnold, Jones and Westbrooks had two points each. Devan Sherwood drove to the basket for two points. The Bulldogs defeated the Mustangs 62-41.

The Huntingdon Mustangs will travel to Union City on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is set to take place after the conclusion of the girls’ contest.
