Two area teams will play Saturday afternoon for the state championship in the Blue Cross girls basketball State Championship tournament at Murfreesboro in their respective classifications.

McKenzie defeated Van Buren Friday afternoon by a score of 84-59 to win the opportunity to play in the Class 1A State Championship game at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rebels are set to play Wayne County for the championship.

Westview High School defeated Community, 43-27, in the semi-final game Friday night to win the opportunity to advance to the State Class 2A Championship game on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Westview will play McMinn Central for the championship. McMinn Central defeated Gibson County Friday afternoon by a score of 58-50 to advance to the championship game.

Readers might recall that Wayne County eliminated Dresden in the quarter-final game held on Wednesday by winning, 69-48, over the Lady Lions. Wayne County advanced to the championship game on Saturday by defeating Hampton by a score of 61-39.
