HUNTINGDON (August 15) — Huntingdon’s Middle School Mustangs played host to McKenzie Middle School Rebels on Thursday, August 15 at Paul Ward Stadium. From the opening kick to the final snap, Huntingdon controlled the game.
Huntingdon’s Ashton Hutcherson scored on the first play from scrimmage. Overall, he added three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, Tayshawn Rivers had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, Jax Bennett and Kaleb Pearson each had a two-point conversion in the first half with a score of 38-0 at half and final.
McKenzie failed to gain the momentum in this early-season contest. Quarterback Tate Surber executed the running and pass game, however, the Mustangs’ defense was ready. Stafford Roditis was called to make the punts as the Rebels earned two first downs, the first was on a Surber pass to Roditis, and the second on a pass to Hayden Garrett. An offsides penalty granted the Rebels their third first down.
Next Thursday, August 22, the MMS Rebels host Henry County and the Mustangs travel to Martin.
