McKENZIE (August 29) — McKenzie Middle School Lady Rebel softball hosted county rival West Carroll Thursday and rode two big innings to an 11-1 win over the Lady War Eagles in four innings.
McKenzie struck first with a run in the bottom half of the first, then opened up the lead with five in the third. West Carroll got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth, but McKenzie scored five more in the home half to end the game early.
Lady Rebel Savannah Davis was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Sophie Carassco was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Belle O’Brien was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and three runs scored. Nicole Gibson was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base. Taylor Rawls was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Mikaela Reynolds was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Alyse Lowe was 0-for-0 with a run scored. Tori Singleton was 0-for-1 with a run scored.
Lady War Eagle Karma Wilkey was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Isabel Jager was 1-for-1. Keelee Cook was 0-for-1 with a walk.
Belle O’Brien earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out ten and walking one in four innings.
Karma Wilkey took the complete-game loss for West Carroll, allowing eleven runs (nine earned) on 12 hits while striking out seven and walking one in four innings.
