TSSAA Dead Period is over! Summer workouts are done! 7-on-7 is done! Guess What? That means football season is near. All local teams will be in full pads this week getting used to afternoon practices as football season approaches in a few weeks.
The Rebels have been working all summer getting ready for an opportunity to improve on last season. They competed well against Henry County, Lexington, and Jackson Southside in recent 7-on-7 competitions and fared well in the 7-7 tournament at Martin before being eliminated.
They will see their first contact against Camden at home this Friday afternoon, August 2 at the practice field. They will travel to Lexington on Friday, August 9 for their second scrimmage before hosting Martin Westview Friday, August 16 for a jamboree. The freshmen will play 2 quarters, the JV will play 2 quarters and the varsity will play 2 quarters. The Rebels will play host to Huntingdon to open the season August 23.
The Mustangs are coming back with a lot of experience and are getting prepared for a big year. They will scrimmage Jackson Northside on August 2 and Covington on August 9. They will participate in a jamboree at Lexington on August 16.
The War Eagles lost veterans from last year’s playoff team but have some talent coming back as they prepare for a new season. They will play host to Scotts Hill in a scrimmage August 2 and then participate in the McDonald’s Jamboree in Paris on August 16th. The War Eagles open the season at Bruceton August 23.
