McKenzie Freedom Festival Draws Hundreds
From the Jul 8, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (July 4) — The City of McKenzie hosted its annual Freedom Festival Friday at the City Park, drawing hundreds for food and fun to celebrate Independence Day.
A variety of food vendors provided a plethora of summer favorites throughout the evening.
Mayor Ryan Griffin welcomed all at the beginning of the evening and blessed the event.
McKenzie High School graduate Ady Freeman performed the National Anthem as those gathered watched an enormous American flag wave as fire trucks from McKenzie and Huntingdon held it high from extended ladders.
Music played and the fun continued until dusk, when Mayor Griffin led the countdown to the beautiful fireworks show.
The city's train shuttled park-goers to and from their vehicles, and McKenzie police officers and firefighters maintained a strong presence to ensure safety.
