Speeding, Driving on Suspended — Kevon Marcellus Keaton, 23, Ward Road, Millington, was charged with Speeding and Driving on a Suspended License on February 16.

Officer Darren Davis stopped the vehicle Keaton was driving for speeding and learned of the suspended status of his license for a prior violation in Carroll County. He was advised to report to Carroll County Jail for booking.

Violation of Probation, Criminal Conspiracy — Aaron J. Powell, 35, Collins Road, Dresden, was charged with Violation of Probation, Criminal Conspiracy and Theft - all on outstanding warrants out of Weakley County.

Officer Sean Beck reported McKenzie Police received an anonymous tip that Powell was inside a McKenzie business. When he exited the store, Officers Jones, Beck, and Dillion closed in to the vehicle to which Powell was returning. He was taken into custody and transferred to the custody of Weakley County authorities.

Underage DUI — Hailey Nicole Cooner, 20, Smyrna, Tenn., was charged with Underage DUI on February 14 after she failed to signal a turn.

Sergeant Cody Coleman initiated the stop, detected a smell of an intoxicant inside the vehicle, and asked Cooner to perform a field sobriety test. She was transported to Baptist Hospital, where a blood-alcohol test was administered and then to Carroll County Jail.

Driving on Revoked, Open Container — Roman Winkler, 36, McKenzie, was charged with Driving on a Revoked License and Open Container on February 16.

Officer Sean Beck observed Winkler as driving and had knowledge about his license status. He was charged as noted and transported to Carroll County Jail without the possibility of bail because he was already held on a separate charge. His vehicle was seized.

Driving on Revoked Second Offense — Brandon P. Westphal, 38, Magnolia Avenue, McKenzie, was charged with Driving on a Revoked License-Second Offense on February 15.

Officer Sean Beck witnessed Westphal driving a Camero that turned into a parking lot. Beck stopped the vehicle, registered to Roman Winkler. Westphal was revoked due to a DUI. Westphal indicated that he and Winkler had a verbal agreement to switch the ownership of the vehicle to Westphal.

Westphal was arrested and the vehicle was seized.

Manufacturing Meth — James S. Anderson, 42, Tennessee Street, McKenzie was charged with Manufacturing Meth on February 18.

Officer Steven Scott stopped the vehicle for failure to stop at a stop sign. Permission was granted to search the vehicle to which Officer Scott found a substance believed to be meth and a glass pipe. He was arrested for Possession of Schedule II and cited with Failing to Stop.

Theft — A McKenzie resident reported the theft of his handgun and holster on February 12.

Officer Timothy Dillon took the report that indicates it is a Girsan MC1911 9MM handgun. A suspect was named in the case.

Domestic Assault — Veronica Beckett, 43, Holmes Mill Road, Huntingdon, was charged with Domestic Assault on February 13.

Officer Sean Beck arrived on the scene on Highland Drive, where a male subject stated he was assaulted by his ex-girlfriend, Beckett, as they drove to a local pharmacy to pick up medicines. The victim had an audio recording of the verbal exchange between the two.

Beckett was booked into Carroll County Jail.

Driving on a Revoked License — Deshan D. Sanders, 33, Cherry Blossom Dr., Huntingdon was charged with Driving on a Revoked License - Third Offense on February 12.

Officer Sean Beck stopped a vehicle Sanders was driving because of illegal window tint. When the officer requested Sanders’ license, he could not produce any. A check with MPD dispatch revealed the revoked status and given a bond of $1,500.

The female owner of the vehicle, who was the passenger, had knowledge of Sanders’ revoked license. Because of her knowledge, the vehicle was impounded.

Natural Death — McKenzie Police Officer Justin Brister investigated the death of a McKenzie woman following the unusual trail of events during and after her death.

A family member reported that another family member might have caused the death. The deceased was a hospice patient. A check with a Paris funeral home, the ambulance service, the verifying physician in another county, concluded that there was no foul play. The District Attorney and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were consulted in the matter. MPD advised the family member of the findings.
