McKENZIE — McKenzie Rotary Club hosted its annual charity auction on Saturday, November 14 at the McKenzie Farmers’ Market. In a year of a worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the live, in-person auction was a great success for the local service club.
Matt Lane, president of the club, was pleased with the response to the event, which was held during the evening instead of morning. The event is held each November, traditionally on the second Saturday.
Mickey Stafford volunteered his services as auctioneer to sell many donated items from area businesses and individuals. Club Vice-President Sandi Stafford Roditis served as chairman of the event.
Brooke and Leslie Cooper provided an acoustic set of music before the auction started.
Proceeds from the event provide funds for the annual McKenzie schools’ honor banquets, scholarships to college, funds for leadership training for one to two high school juniors, winter coats for foster children in Carroll County, support for the Carroll County United Neighbors food drives, support for city projects. Last year, the club refurbished the rest areas along University Drive and this year, the club is providing the artificial wood ground cover under playground equipment for the City of McKenzie.
