Students in the McKenzie Special School District begin the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, August 5, 8 a.m. and will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m. Students begin the regular 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. schedule on Tuesday, August 6.
School cafeterias open for breakfast on Monday, August 5. Breakfast and lunch will be served beginning August 6. Lunch prices are $1.75 for grades K-4 and $2 for grades 5 to 12. Reduced price meals are 40 cents for all grades. Extra milk is 50 cents per carton. Students who were eligible for free or reduced price lunch last year remain eligible until new applications are processed in about one week. Breakfast is provided free of charge for all grades from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m.
State law requires a child entering school for the first time to present: a certified copy of birth certificate, Tennessee school entry medical examination, evidence of state-required immunization, Social Security card, and proof of residency, by address on utility bills or other means.
A child entering Kindergarten must be at least five years old on or before August 15, 2019.
