McKENZIE (October 21) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Lakewood Monday for a pair of hoops contests. The Lady Rebels took an early lead and held off a third-quarter rally by the Lady Eagles for a 43-33 win. In the nightcap, the Rebels pulled away early and coasted to a 48-25 victory over the Eagles.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to a 13-10 lead after the opening frame, led by Savannah Davis with seven points. Sophie Pate and Ally Gibson each hit a three-pointer. Lady Eagles Jocelyn Lee and Allison Glatt each scored four points, and Annabelle Singleton and Noe Wilkerson each hit a free throw.
McKenzie had a 7-6 edge in the second quarter, led by Morgan Little with a three-pointer. Davis and Kyeana Sneed each had a pair. Wilkerson, Lee and Glatt each added a pair for Lakewood. At the half, the Lady Rebels led 20-16.
The Lady Rebels added to the lead with an 11-9 advantage in the third. Davis led with nine points, including a three, and Sneed added a pair. Glatt led the Lady Eagles with three points, and Wilkerson, Lee and Paris Hale each had a pair. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 31-25.
McKenzie sealed the win with a 12-8 fourth, led by Davis and Sneed with five points each. Nicole Gibson had a pair. Wilkerson scored six for Lakewood, and Singleton added a pair.
Lady Rebel Savannah Davis led all scorers with 23 points, including a three-pointer. Kyeana Sneed scored nine.
Noe Wilkerson led Lakewood with eleven points. Allison Glatt scored nine, and Jocelyn Lee had eight points.
Rebels 48, Eagles 25
McKenzie doubled up Lakewood 14-7 in the first frame, led by Tate Surber with five points. Drew Chappell had four, Landon Brown scored three points, and Christopher Beck had a pair. Karsen Marshall scored all seven points for the Eagles.
The Rebels pulled away with a 16-7 advantage in the second quarter, led by Stafford Roditis with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Surber scored four, and Beck and Chappell each added a pair. Marshall scored three points for Lakewood, and Dalton Barnes and Colten Thurmond each had a pair. At the half, the Rebels led 30-14.
McKenzie outscored the Eagles 16-5 in the third, led by Brown with ten points, including a pair of threes. Surber scored four, and Carson Hill had a pair. Marshall led Lakewood with three points, and Brock Boddles had a pair. Heading into the final frame, McKenzie led 46-19.
The Eagles closed the final gap with a 6-2 tilt in the fourth. Ethan Ray, Landon Rhodes and Drew Weiner each had a pair. Cadon Steele scored the Rebels’ lone basket.
Landon Brown and Tate Surber led McKenzie with 13 points each, Brown with a pair of three-pointers. Stafford Roditis scored eight, also with a pair of threes. Karsen Marshall led Lakewood with 13 points.
