MES School Supply List 2023-24

McKENZIE (June 23) — As the first day of school nears, McKenzie Elementary School is helping parents prepare their students for their return to classes. The school released K-4th grade school supply lists for the 2023-24 school year.

Kindergarten students need a standard-size backpack without rollers, six small glue sticks, one bottle of Elmer’s white glue, a 24-pack of small Crayola crayons (six packs for the year), one pair of children’s safety scissors with a metal blunt tip, pencils (no fat pencils), a plastic pencil box, one watercolor set, two boxes of tissues, six fat black Expo markers, two fat yellow Highlighters, and one pack of baby wipes.

First grade students need school scissors, three Jumbo glue sticks, three boxes of crayons (24 or less), 12 Ticonderoga pencils, one pack of cap erasers, one pencil bag (no school boxes), a backpack without wheels, one plastic folder with three prongs and pockets, two composition notebooks, two yellow Highlighters, two black Expo markers, and Kleenex. Additionally, boys are asked to bring Clorox Wipes and girls are asked to bring Ziploc Bags.

Second grade students need a backpack without rollers, a pencil pouch (no boxes), 24 Ticonderoga pencils, pencil top erasers, four 24-count boxes of crayons, six glue sticks, child scissors, four Expo markers, two one-subject spiral notebooks for ELA, two yellow Highlighters for ELA, and a box of Kleenex. Additionally, girls are asked to bring Wet Wipes and boys are asked to bring Clorox Wipes.

Third grade students need a school backpack without rollers, school scissors (sharp, pointed metal), two boxes of crayons (16 or 24-count only), four Elmer’s school glue sticks, two packs of #2 pencils (no plastic-coated pencils), one plastic pocket folder with prongs, one composition notebook, one pencil bag or pouch large enough to hold a box of crayons (no school boxes), one pack of wide-ruled notebook paper, two yellow Highlighters, one spiral wide-ruled notebook, two black Dry-Erase markers, and one pack of pencil top erasers. Students should NOT bring markers, binders or colored pencils.

Fourth grade students need three plastic folders with prongs and pockets, four Highlighters, four black or blue Expo dry-erase markers, two boxes of 24-pack crayons, two boxes of #2 pencils and cap erasers, one box of classic colored markers, two 70-count spiral notebooks, a large zipper pencil pouch (no pencil boxes), two pairs of ear buds ($1 each), one pack of wide-ruled loose-leaf notebook paper, two glue sticks, scissors, Kleenex tissue, disinfectant Wet Wipes and Germ-X.

Students in the McKenzie Special School District return to classes with a half-day August 1.
