Students at McKenzie Elementary School are competing and showing well in the mathematical computer simulation that is part of the Prodigy Game. According to Alex Peters and Rohan Mahimker, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of Prodigy, “students use Prodigy to practice curriculum-aligned math skills — all while playing a game they love. We’ve also built tools for educators and parents to support their students’ learning journeys and motivate them.”

In March, McKenzie finished first in Tennessee; while in February and April, they finished second in both months, according to McKenzie Elementary teacher Mrs. Jill Warren. Throughout the year, the schools enrolled in the program compete for monetary rewards up to $100,000. Currently, McKenzie students have answered over 107,000 math problems correctly and finished 15th in the nation in the platinum tier.

Teachers can align in-game content with what they’re teaching in under 30 seconds. Parents can follow along with a free app. The overall goal is to engage students so they’re excited to learn and spend more time on tasks.
