McKENZIE (June 6) — McKenzie High School senior baseball players were honored Saturday on the Rebel baseball field at the city park. Players, coaches and families from the high school and middle school teams gathered to recognize the five seniors and present a special award.
Seniors include West Cook, son of Brian and Julie Cook; Evan Jarrett, son of David and Michele Jarrett; Riley Joyner, son of Wesley Joyner and Erica Rawls; Cameron Kee, son of Josh and Courtney Kee; and Nick Simpson, son of Steven Simpson and the late Stephanie Jean Williams.
Each was recognized individually on the field, joined by their parents and presented with a plaque.
Next, the Seth Foster Memorial Scholarship was presented to Cameron Kee. The award is given annually in memory of Seth Foster, and former Rebel baseball player and 2010 graduate who died in 2011. Presenting the scholarship were Seth’s parents, Mike and Rachel Foster, and his brother, Matt Foster.
Then, the coaches were presented gifts by their respective teams and the Homerun Club.
Following the presentations, players and coaches from the high school and middle school teams played a casual game of slow-pitch softball.
Players, coaches and families were treated to hamburgers, chips and drinks by the Homerun Club.
