From the Jul 1, 2025 e-Edition
HUNTINGDON (June 30) — The Carroll County Health Department, located at 633 High Street, celebrated a $795,000 renovation on Monday, June 30. This renovation marks the establishment of a modern facility designed to meet the health needs of the citizens of Carroll County and surrounding areas.
The renovation encompassed updates to the offices and patient rooms, the installation of a new roof, the relocation of the front entrance, and the addition of a portico for patient access.
Emily Rushing, the regional director, noted that the renovation took approximately one year from start to finish. Nurse practitioner Nicole Redmond is available five days a week, while Dr. Daniel Davios, MD, is on-site one to two days a week. On any given weekday, the facility employs 12 to 15 staff members.
The project was funded through a combination of federal, state, and local resources. It not only renovated the facility but also added space for one additional patient room and further modernized the dental clinic. Rushing mentioned that dental services are currently booked through September.
Dr. Valerie Allen, a dentist from Carroll County, along with her team members Yasmine DeGrass and Rita Foster, provide services such as x-rays, cleanings, extractions, and fillings with modern equipment in a newly renovated area.
State Commissioner Dr. Ralph Alvarado attended the event and emphasized that health departments are among the essential services provided by the state.
State Representative Brock Martin praised the new facility and commended the state’s commitment to offering local medical services.
Following the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, conducted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. Attendees were invited to tour the facility.
