McKENZIE, Tenn. - Funeral services for Samuel Kenneth “Kenny” Carrell are Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church McKenzie at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. until service time. Interment is at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Brother Dennis Trull and Brother John Adams will officiate. Pallbearers to serve are: Cory Ellis, Chris Sadler, Jacob Sadler, Rusty Shands, Kenneth Ellis, Bentlee Shands, Robby Foreman and Brian Pratt, honorary pallbearers are Rick Hutton, Jamie Crume, Denny Chandler, Eddie Crume and the Men’s Life Group of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Carrell, 86, died at his home on December 31, 2022.

He was born in Memphis, Tenn. on June 22, 1936 to Cleo and Vivian Carroll Carrell. He was an Army veteran, a Mason, Gideon and a member of First Baptist Church McKenzie.  Mr. Carrell was a licensed land surveyor for 42 years and worked at the Tenn. Department of Transportation.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Ken Carrell and brother Joe Carrell.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Pratt Carrell, two daughters, Van (Chris) Sadler of Clarksburg and Lisa Ellis of McKenzie, a sister, Janette Johnson of McKenzie, four grandchildren, Cory (Sam) Ellis, Brittany (Rusty) Shands, Courtney (Kyle Mort) Carrell and Jacob Sadler and 7-½ grandchildren, Kenneth Ellis, Bentlee Shands, Brayden Mort, Hunter Shands, Andrew Ellis, Kaylynn Shands, Oliver Mort and Baby Mort.
