Multiple Charges — Toni Bennett 28, of Hollow Rock was cited for drug paraphernalia and transported to Madison County for active warrants.
 
Matthew Herrin 34, of New Johnsonville was cited for drug paraphernalia also on October 5.
 
Deputy Meier observed a truck speeding (48/40 mph zone) and initiated a traffic stop. While writing the driver Matthew Herrin a warning ticket for speeding, the deputy noticed nervous behaviors from the driver and the passenger, identified as Toni Bennet. Herrin became defensive towards the narcotic topics and denied the deputies consent to search the truck. Meier called for a K-9 to come to the location. The canine gave a positive alert on the passenger side of the truck. Deputies located a glass pipe, clear bag with white powder residue, fake urine, two black magnetic boxes; one of which was stuck underneath the frame of the truck, and a new container of clear plastic bags.
 
Domestic Assault — Justin Ray Gateley, 30, of Cedar Grove was charged with his third offense for a domestic assault.
 
On October 2, dispatch received a call from the victim’s mother in reference to a welfare check on her daughter. The concern was due to her daughter’s boyfriend, Justin Gateley, having past domestic assault history. The mother stated Gateley messaged a picture of the victim crying to her mother’s phone. Deputy Meier was en route when the victim’s mother called and stated her daughter was out in Camden now due to her getting away from the defendant. Officer Josh Boyd performed the welfare check with it being in another county. She had apparent bruising and swelling on her face, neck, back, shoulder, and left side of her torso. The victim stated Gateley assaulted her because he thought she stole some pill tablets from him, after he assaulted her, she left the residence. The victim refused to write a statement with him already being on probation for aggravated domestic and having two prior domestic charges. The verbal statement from Morgan and the severity of her injuries allowed Deputy Meier to charge Gateley with Domestic Assault: third offense.
 
Drug Violation — On October 1, Deputy Sevarns located a small plastic bag containing a white powder substance. The substance field tested positive for cocaine at the Carroll County Shooting Complex.
 
All Other Larceny — On October 5, Investigator Adam Meggs received a call from Bryant Allen at TBI Bomb and Arson. Allen advised there was a burglary at a residence in Benton County. Deputies later located a red HHR sitting vacant in a field with TVs in the back seat. Deputies were able to locate the owner, who stated he sold the vehicle with a blown motor to Auto Salvage 22 six months earlier. Mary at Auto Salvage 22 claimed the title was still there, except the vehicle was gone off the lot. Deputies were able to inform Auto Salvage 22 the vehicle was in a field and towed to Benton County Sheriff’s Department.
 
Multiple Charges — Elizabeth Ann Bugg, 31, of Nashville was charged in Carroll County for a DUI, first offense; driving with suspended, first offense, and violation of implied consent. She was given a $2500 bond with a mandatory eight-hour stay in jail.
 
On October 4, Deputy Coleman initiated a traffic stop for failure to maintain lane on Highway 77. Upon contact with the driver, identified as Elizabeth Bugg, the deputy noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Coleman asked the driver to get out of the vehicle and noticed an intoxicating beverage odor coming from her person. Bugg did poorly on the field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for a DUI, with a check of her drivers license status, revealed it was currently suspended. When she was advised of the implied consent law, she refused to submit a blood/ breath test.
 
Driving on Revoked — Kenneth H Selsor, 56, of Huntingdon was arrested for driving on revoked, first offense.
 
On October 5, Deputy Hamilton initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain lane. Upon contact he identified the driver as Kenneth Selsor. A check of his driver’s license revealed it was revoked with no reinstated date for a DUI out of Carroll County.
