WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service is increasing the price of a first-class stamp on July 9.
The new rate for a one-ounce letter is 66 cents, an increase of 4.8 percent from the current rate of 63 cents.
Under Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, the money-losing agency has embarked on a 10-year plan to reach profitability.
In  2019, a stamp cost 50 cents. The July 2023 price hike is the fifth increase since early 2019.
