WEAKLEY COUNTY (December 29) — A Weakley County woman, who was accidentally shot in the head, is being treated at a Memphis hospital.

According to Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan, at 12:53 a.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019, a 911 call was received by the Weakley County 911 center reporting a woman had been accidentally shot in the head at 1670 Billingsby Road, located between Martin and Latham.

Following the arrival of Weakley County Sheriff’s deputies and the Weakley County Emergency Medical Services, 33-year-old Amanda Workman was transported to Volunteer Hospital in Martin and then transferred by ambulance to the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center in Memphis.

At this time, Workman is still a patient at the Memphis hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
