WWII Veteran Odell Pate Honored at Greater Enon

Posted

McKENZIE (November 10) — Odell Pate, a World War II veteran, was honored by the congregation of Greater Enon Baptist Church on Sunday in honor of Veterans Day.

Pate is a resident of Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie.

During the 11 a.m. Worship Service, each veteran was asked to come to the front of the sanctuary as the youth group pinned red, white and blue ribbons on their lapels.

Pate was honored separately with a plaque. Kim Webb read the plaque’s inscription and presented to Pate, a deacon in the church.

It read, “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us: what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.

“Thank you for your loyal and honorable service to your state and country! You will always be remembered for your hard work, dedication and sacrifice during your service in the United State military.”
