McKENZIE (August 25) — The McKenzie Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its annual golf tournament at Carroll Lake Friday morning. Despite a heat index of nearly 115 degrees, the Chamber hosted a full slate of teams. PARIS — During a recent meeting of the Henry County Hospital Board, the NW Tennessee Cares organization asked the Henry County Medical Center to appoint a task force to restore the hospital’s obstetrics department. Hospital officials said their ongoing exploration into the possible management of the hospital by an outside healthcare system would include a stipulation that an obstetrics department be restored. more
Average gasoline prices in Tennessee decreased 12.8 cents per gallon last week, averaging $2.81 per gallon on Monday, December 12, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. more

TENNESSEE — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 7.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.99/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 16.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 3.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.7 cents in the last week and stands at $4.03 per gallon. more

NASHVILLE (July 28) — New data released by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development showed increased unemployment rates across the United States and Tennessee during June. The country’s unemployment rate in June was 3.8%, a 0.4 percent-point increase from May’s rate. Tennessee’s June unemployment rate was 4.3%, a 0.9 percent-point increase from May’s rate. Taking seasonal unemployment into account, there is little change between the two months. Both entities have decreased unemployment rates from June 2021.  more
