Several local players were named to the Tennessee Sportswriters Association All-State Girls Team recently. State Champion McKenzie had one named to the TSWA team in Sophomore Savannah Davis, who was also named Miss Basketball in Class A. Nearby Gleason had two seniors named to the TSWA All-State Team with Alana Anderson and Carrington Lifsey. Anderson was a Class A Miss Basketball Finalist. Lucy Curry, a junior from Dresden was named to the TSWA team. more
NASHVILLE — The State Department of Labor recently released the unemployment numbers for April 2022, and small changes were reported in Carroll, Henry, and Weakley counties. Unemployment rates decreased in twelve Tennessee counties, including Henry County. Sixty counties, including Carroll and Weakley, experienced slight increases in their rates in April. more

McKENZIE (November 2022) — The Polar Bar! Ask anyone who resided in McKenzie in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, and you will hear a favorite memory of the burger and ice cream shop. It was the hangout for high school students in the late 1950s and 60s before the chain restaurants and fast food restaurants. It was the place to get a whopper burger, fries, and ice cream and shakes.  more

HUNTINGDON (September 15) — Friday night marked the first meeting between the Huntingdon Mustangs (Class 2-A) and the Crockett County Cavaliers (Class 4-A). The Cavaliers arrived at Paul Ward Stadium with an undefeated season record that quickly appeared in danger as the Mustangs took control defensively and limited Crockett County’s scoring efforts to only one touchdown for the night. Offensively, the Mustangs found the end zone five times and Greyson Anderson posted a perfect five for five on extra point attempts. The home field win against the non-region opponent gave Huntingdon a 3-1 record for the season. more
