PARIS (December 15) — After 43 years in law enforcement, Lieutenant Gary Vandiver has retired. Sheriff Josh Frey said, “It’s very much a loss for the sheriff’s office. His desire and expertise, especially in working in child abuse cases, is invaluable. But fortunately, he passed that knowledge on to so many others at the sheriff’s office. He’s leaving us in good hands.” more

The April meeting of the McKenzie Garden Club was April 22 at the home of Chester and Victoria Ard, with President Myra Sasser presiding. The Devotional was given by Victoria, who spoke on the importance of recognizing and appreciating the tiny blessings in our lives. The big blessings are wonderful, but it’s the tiny ones - phone calls from our children, hugs from loved ones, cool breezes, first tomatoes on the vines, funny family stories - that really get us through the rough times in our lives. more
McKenzie Farmers Market Reopens Saturday, June 4, 8 a.m., 2431 Cedar Street, in downtown McKenzie. The former Studebaker dealership was converted to an indoor/outdoor farmers market and allows area citizens to sell their homemade and homegrown foods and other products. more
Apple Dumplings 2 granny smith apples, peeled & quartered 1 (8 count) can crescent rolls 1/2 cup margarine 1 cup sugar 1 cup orange juice 1 teaspoon vanilla Wrap each apple quarter in a crescent roll. Sprinkle cinnamon over crescent rolls. Mix margarine, sugar and orange juice in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over crescent rolls. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. more
PARIS — Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway stated he along with  Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton and State Representative Tandy Darby drove out to Puryear to go over details of what will be a 3.1-mile portion of the highway that will start around Howard Road in Henry County and go to the Kentucky state line. more

The meeting will take place at the Municipal Building located at 1274 Lexington Street, Huntingdon, Tenn. Carroll County Chamber Hosts National Day of Prayer The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 72nd Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 8 a.m. at the Carroll County Airport. The theme for 2023, is Pray fervently in righteousness and avail much emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for his Holy name. The national theme comes from James 5:16, where it says, “Pray fervently in righteousness and avail much.” The public is invited to attend as we pray for our nation, our state, our county, and our neighbors.
