McKENZIE (February 8) — Bethel University was the site of a meeting point for the beginning of discussions about education ties to the BlueOval City Project with Ford Motors and the SK battery pack corporation. The summit was initiated by the City of McKenzie to open dialogue between Ford and community leaders. Included in the luncheon were representatives from the McKenzie Special School District and Board of Education, the Carroll County Board of Education, TCAT-McKenzie, Bethel University along with city and county officials. more
In 1999, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce began sponsoring the Youth Leadership Carroll County (YLCC) program. Since that time, more than 570 students have graduated from YLCC. The classes are comprised of class members from each Carroll County high school. The program is made up of four sessions, two in the fall and two in the winter. more
The Bethel/Eastside Family and Community Education (FCE) March meeting was held in the home of Mary and Pennye Mays with ten members present. The vice president, Pennye Mays, opened the meeting with a devotion written by Barbara Cage entitled ‘May Hope Always Be Your Comfort and Guide.’ The club pledge was recited and cards were passed to be signed for Janice Chandler and Lacy Yelley. DUI — Officer Trenton Ruddy was on patrol shortly before 1 a.m. June 25 on South Main Street when he observed a black truck stuck on the train tracks. Upon investigating the incident, Monica Davenport claimed she was driving and was blinded by vehicle lights causing the accident. Ruddy also noticed Roger Hollowell, 40, of Huntingdon, was in the vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated, smelled of alcohol, and had bloodshot eyes. more
