HUNTINGDON (September 2) — Lori Nolen is the new councilperson in the Town of Huntingdon. She was selected to fill the vacancy created when Vice-Mayor Nina Smothers assumed the office of mayor upon the death of Mayor Dale Kelley. more
HUNTINGDON (August 18) — Donald Parish, one of two judges of the Circuit Court of the 24th Judicial District is retiring August 31 after 16 years on the bench. The Huntingdon native served the five-county area of Carroll, Henry, Decatur, Hardin and Benton counties. He did not seek another eight-year term of office. more
NASHVILLE — Lindsey Reid Barnett, a geometry teacher at Huntingdon High School, participates in a the Tennessee Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program.  more
McKENZIE — Jamie Brown is now a nationally recognized certified school nurse (NCSN). The award was announced by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Wiggins. She is the first-ever nurse at McKenzie Special School District to acquire the certification from the National Board for the Certification of School Nurses. She is a nurse at McKenzie High School. more

Two Carroll County 4-Hers showed out at the regional and state 4-H horse shows this summer. Alyvia Foster and Gracie Hix, both seniors at Hollow Rock Bruceton Central High School earned numerous awards in the senior division of the regional and state 4-H horse shows. more
HUNTINGDON (July 26) — After some animated discussion regarding Mayor Dale Kelley’s recommendation of Angela DeMaris to become executive director of the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center, the council voted 4-3 to approve her for the position. DeMaris was serving as Director of Operations but had also been unofficially doing the theater director’s duties as well after Lori Nolen resigned. The position was not filled immediately due to the COVID pandemic. more
NASHVILLE (July 27) — The Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) announced Dr. Jay Phipps, owner of four community pharmacy locations in McKenzie, Jackson, Huntingdon and Waverly, as the organization’s 2022-23 president. Dr. Phipps resides in McKenzie and is a Carroll County commissioner. more
