Jackson (June 2022) — Melanie Haste, 62, formerly of Trenton, Tennessee, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for wire fraud. Joseph C. Murphy Jr., United States Attorney, announced the sentence. more

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Department of Education recently ruled on a case involving a West Carroll student with special needs. The complaint was filed by Ryanne Parker on behalf of her son regarding special education needs and evaluations. more

MEMPHIS (June 20) — The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook continuing until Sunday due to the elevated temperatures and high humidity in the forecast. The NWS also warns of elevated fire risk in the area this week. Heat Advisories may become necessary again as heat indices approach or exceed 105 degrees each day beginning Tuesday. more
ATLANTA, Ga. (June 18) — On Friday and Saturday, another milestone was achieved in the COVID-19 vaccine race. Eighteen months after the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved for emergency use authorization (EUA) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the recommendation that all children 6 months through 5 years of age should receive a COVID-19 vaccine. more

During the bicentennial celebration in Huntingdon, the story of a Korean War-era military plane crash came to my attention. The Colonial Tea Room displayed a piece of the wreckage that had landed on its roof from the 1954 incident. This week, I am sharing what I have put together of the story, and I’d like to thank Sam McGowan for his compilation of research on the crash. more
