HUNTINGDON (May 24) — Hundreds of citizens of Carroll County sought answers to their questions about the Carroll County 1000-Acre Recreational Lake. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will soon own the fishing and recreational lake, and their inventory of managed lakes in Tennessee does not include any lakes for swimming, skiing, or pleasure boating. Average gasoline prices declined in Jackson in the last week, averaging $3.819 per gallon July 24, according to GasBuddy’s survey of stations in Tennessee. Prices in Jackson were $4.556 per gallon a month ago and $2.767 per gallon one year ago. The national average price of regular gas has declined by 20 cents in the last week and stands at $4.327 per gallon. more

McKENZIE (December 14) — Brahmananda Reddy Munagala, doing business as Bram’s Place, 531 Magnolia Avenue, McKenzie was denied the issuance of a license to sell package liquor. The McKenzie Alcohol Board, with McKenzie City Council serving as voting members, voted five to one to deny the license during the December 14 meeting. more

There are three upcoming statewide sales tax holidays in July and August 2022. This year, the Tennessee General Assembly approved two sales tax holidays in addition to the traditional summer sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies, and computers. more
HUNTINGDON (March 10) — State Representative Tandy Darby spoke at the Carroll County Civic Center Friday morning. Darby stated the state house had over 1,500 bills at the start of the session. They have currently passed 95 that have come before them. more
