The annual Huntingdon Marching Invitational is Saturday, October 5 at Paul Ward Stadium on the campus of Huntingdon High School. Nineteen bands will compete and the Huntingdon Marching Mustangs will perform in exhibition during the day-long event. Huntingdon performs at 9:45 a.m.

GLEASON (September 26) — Addyson Black was crowned the 2024 football Homecoming Queen during pre-game ceremonies at Gleason High School. Miss Black is the daughter of Michelle and Brian Black. She is the manager of the football team, a member of the basketball and softball teams, and a member of the Beta Club, G-Club and Student Council.

GLEASON — Lee Lawrence, principal at Gleason School, is the 2024 recipient of the A.F. Bridges Award sponsored by the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association-District 8. The award will be presented on November 12 in Jackson.

SHARON (September 23) — The District 14A High School Golf tournaments were Monday at Persimmon Hills Golf Club. The McKenzie Lady Rebels were crowned champions among three competing teams, while the Rebels were runner-up out of eight teams.

Aggravated Assault, Domestic Assault — According to a report made by Officer Billy King, on September 22, he responded to a call that came about a woman walking on Jones St. in Huntingdon, bleeding from her head. The victim stated that Larry Teague, 45, of Huntingdon, had struck her with a belt, and when she told him she was bleeding he struck her again. She stated that he grabbed her phone and shattered it on the floor when she was trying to call for help. She ran to her neighbor’s house to use the phone. The victim went to Baptist Memorial emergency room to be seen, and Larry was picked up from his residence and arrested.

HUNTINGDON (September 24) - Huntingdon High School hosted Westview Tuesday for a consequential district soccer match. Each 2-0 in District 12A, the winner would claim the top seed in the upcoming tournament. The Fillies struck first at the very end of the first half, but the Lady Chargers scored three times in the second half to claim the 3-1 victory and the 3-0 district record.

Over the weekend, a few posts went viral concerning a man that was booked into Henry County Jail on Sunday afternoon on a $50,000 bond. The man is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after he took photos from various women’s and children’s social media accounts and reposted them to his account with lewd comments on some. The Henry County Sheriff’s office has the man in custody and is investigating.
