WASHINGTON, DC (November 29) — The U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), a division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced a partnership to distribute free COVID-19 tests to schools across the country. In a letter sent to local education agencies (LEAs) by ED, school districts are being encouraged to order tests directly from the federal government to be made available to students, parents, staff, and school communities. more

Sitting in the media workroom Friday afternoon, I witnessed Alcoa win its ninth consecutive TSSAA Football Championship with twenty-two overall championships. Instantly, I hear chatter about how they should move up to 4A or even 5A. Then after McKenzie was defeated, I walked back into the media workroom feeling rather dejected. After a few minutes, I was thinking about how it would be nice not to have to play South Pittsburg ever again because they need to be playing in 2A or 3A. After all, it’s just not fair. more
Beginner Computer Classes Carroll County Library is hosting free Beginning Computer Classes. Classes are one-hour increments, 3-7 p.m. on the following dates. December 11 — Google Email, Google Docs, and Google Drive. December 18 — Google Sheets and Google Slides. Registrants must register for a time for each day that they choose to participate. Domestic Assault, Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property — Jesse Leo Thomas, 24, of Huntingdon, was arrested on November 25 for Domestic Assault and Vandalism. The victim of Thomas stated that Thomas picked up her phone and threw it at the oven which shattered the glass of the oven and the phone. He broke the dresser mirror, a rainbow vacuum, the return vent of the HVAC unit, and a television. He kicked and punched holes in the doors and walls and threw items off counters. He also through garbage all over the floor. more
