Betty Carter Meggs

HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Betty Carter Meggs, 84, of Huntingdon, Tennessee died Friday, December 20, 2019 at Jackson-Madison General Hospital.

Funeral services are1 p.m. Monday December 23, 2019 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Carter’s Family Cemetery. Brother Bryan Oakes officiating.

Mrs. Meggs was born December 19, 1935 to the late Charlie Luther Carter and Lillie Carter. She was a retired nurse’s aide at Carroll County Hospital, member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and  she was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star #180, where she held the office of Marshal for many years and received the Certificate of Appreciation in 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Meggs; sons, Johnny Mark Meggs and Bruce Meggs; brothers, Howard Carter, Gerald Carter, Clarence Carter, Harold Carter and John Carter; sisters, Clara Foster and Edith Mason.

She is survived by her son, Brent Meggs of Huntingdon, Tennessee; brother, Giles Carter of Huntingdon, Tennessee; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.
